From piano teacher to community lifeline: Meet June’s Positively JAX winner

JACKSONVILLE, Fla – Joel Pace is the kind of person who sees a need and finds a way to meet it.

For 35 years, Pace has taught music. But outside the piano studio, he is also the founder of Be the Change Northeast Florida, a nonprofit dedicated to helping families, seniors and people experiencing homelessness.

For him, music and service are connected.

“You can’t change the world,” Pace said, “but you can change the world for one person.”

Be The Change focuses on homeless outreach, nursing home outreach, and anyone in the community in need of clothing or food.

Joel Pace also teaches music class through, Joel Pace Piano & Music. Many of Pace’s students choose to help with the non-profit as well. Before & after classes students will help with sorting, organizing and attend community events on holidays and weekends.

Uncle Elliott Jones

This morning we lost our family centurion Uncle Elliott Jones. This photo was taken on Saturday December 2 as he was preparing for the annual Callahan Christmas Parade. This year, he was chosen as the Honorary Grand Marshall. It was questionable whether he would be strong enough to ride this year, however he was determined to do it. Uncle Elliott was a very proud Navy veteran of WWII, and as with today being Pearl Harbor day, he will forever be remembered. I will forever cherish the memories of the time Mary and I have spent with Uncle Elliott and his family. Our love and condolences to his children Danny, Debbie, Scott, his grandchildren and the rest of the family.
